SUBSPECIES

Subspecies are generally rarer, wilder, more magical relatives to the more common Ama species. They turn up un-announced, and though we know very little about them currently, their power and status play a huge part in the world of the creatures. Though there are few, they are unbelievably strong, and should never be underestimated. Bonding with one is rare, and if you have the pleasure consider yourself very lucky to have a chance to be around such a magnificent creature. We hope one day to know more about their old ways. Until then, please gorge yourself on our current notes we have on getting closer to them..

Research has lead us to believe that the amulets are linked to the Subs. Colour corresponding with species.
These amulets literally materialise out of thin air. An empty spot of forest one day may uncover several amulets the next. While testing it seems some creatures have strong aversion to some amulets, enough to cause serious events, while another species can react to said amulet by gathering, fixated, almost hypnotised by one. More on this later.

Capturing a Sub

This explains essentially what you need to do, /if/ you can do anything, when you see a subspecies up for normal capture adoption.

In the title of any un-adopted subspecies, you'll notice that instead of just conditions, it says SP conditions. This SP stands for Special, as well as subspecies.

This is because only certain people can try for the subspecies pet, if you do not have the correct amulet..I'll briefly go onto amulets before I go any further;

Amulets

Amulets come in varying degrees of strength.
The strongest is pristine, which grants you a 90% success rate in capturing a wild subspecies.
The next strongest is Discarded, which grants you a 50% success rate, and finally broken, which grants you 20%.

Each different coloured amulet corresponds with a different subspecies.
For example,

Blue Amulets can only be used to help you capture a wild Water Dragon.
Green Amulets can only be used to help you capture a wild Cockatrice.
Yellow Amulets can only be used to help you capture a wild Hainu.
And Red Amulets can only be used to help you capture a wild Ki'lin.

You can only find discarded and broken amulets when they occasionally appear to claim. To claim one, you must get your subspecies, or the corresponding species (ie, green = cockatrice, but also basilisk and its formes.) to pick up the amulet in its mouth. The amulet will then be yours, and will be added to your inventory. You will never be able to buy broken or discarded amulets in the item shop.

Alternatively, you can buy a pristine amulet in any colour form the item shop, which will soon become available.

Finally- if you have an amulet in your possession, you will only be able to try for the corresponding subspecies  of the amulet colour, until you have managed to capture one (where the amulet will disintegrate upon capture), or traded your amulet to a new owner during trading season. This is non negotiable.

I'll also let you know that you can only ever have one amulet colour in your possession at any one time. For example, you could have a million green amulets in your inventory, but nor red, blue or yellow ones in there aswell.

You may only try for any subspecies that appear at any time using an amulet to assist once. If you do not succeed in capturing it, your amulet will return to your inventory.

So, back onto the how to get one part. :P

Lets say a cockatrice appears for capture.
The only people that /cannot/ try for this cockatrice, are people that have either yellow, red or blue amulets. SO BACK OFF GUYS >:U

THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS STATE THE WORD CAPTURE (NOT CLAIM), AND A NAME.

Depending on whether your attempt has or has not been successful, and it has been confirmed by a staffie, you may try multiple times.

Capture success rates and stats
Firstly, success rates are stackable. So you can combine any of these to increase your chances;

⊱✿⊰ If you do not have anything to help you along, you must state so. Without the use of an amulet or any thing else, your capture success rate is a measly 5%. Boo.

⊱✿⊰ To up your chances a bit, you can ask any your suitable (Which means related species only! If a Hainu appears, you can only use pets from the Eins and Hainu family to help you! Same goes for the others!) So, as we have a cockatrice, any basilisk owners can link their basilisk, but must state '____ is helping me!', add a 10% success rate, to up their chances to 15%
Same goes for using a kirin if a Ki'lin appears, eins & Hainu, ect.

I'll just let you know now that linking multiple pets will not help you any more. One is the max, and they will not stack.

You /can/ just post the name. BUT. This is a major pain in the ass, so please could you at least write the species too (This just shows that you know what you're doing, rather than blindly naming out one of your pets), if you're only going to put its name? That way we dont have to trawl through our gallery to try and find the damned thing to check what species it is and how much it helps you :l

⊱✿⊰ You may also use a green amulet on this cockatrice to help you along. Depending on the condition of the amulet, it will help you along to a varying degree, as explained with the amulets and their strengths above.

Link your amulet, if possible, or state that you have one and its condition in your inventory.

You may only use one amulet per capture attempt.

⊱✿⊰ Finally, subspecies help.
Lets say that if you already have a cockatrice, you may link to it, stating '____ is helping me!', adding another 50% to your success rate. Huzzah!
Again, only one per capture, please.

____

For now, these are the only things you can do to increase your chances. More will come in the future, but for now, this is the only level of percentage calculating i'm comfortable with xD

All of this info only applies to ones up for capture. Linking an amulet to a kiriban subspecies ain't going to help you in the slightest :P

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask! <3
